January 29 – 2012 Princess Party, Southern Tier Health Care System, Inc. and its Southern Tier Child Advocacy Center will hold their annual Princess Party fundraiser to benefit the center. The Princess Party will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bartlett Country Club, 32 Euclid Avenue, Olean. Tickets are $20 for each princess and $15 per adult. Registration is required and all princesses must be accompanied by an adult. Each princess will have their hair styled by local hairstylists and will receive a magical nail painting in the princess’ choice of color. Each princess will also be crowned as royalty and will enjoy a tea party luncheon with live entertainment. In order to celebrate National Red Cross Month, the American Red Cross is conducting their 4th Annual “Storm the Mall Family Emergency Preparedness Event and Blood Drive” at the Olean Center Mall on Saturday, March 26th from 10am – 3pm. The “Storm the Mall” event is more than a blood drive; it is a Family Emergency Preparedness Event. Red Cross offices from the Southwestern New York Chapter, along with several other agencies from the area will be on hand to offer emergency preparedness information, provide fun activities, and much more! This event will allow families to learn how to become “Red Cross Ready” for emergencies. Becoming “Red Cross Ready” involves learning how to make a plan, get a kit, and being informed. There will be prizes and drawings held throughout the day and all presenting blood donors will receive coffee and donuts compliments of Dunkin’ Donuts.

The African American Center for Cultural Development announces the opening of an old fashion ‘coffee house’ from 6:00 to 8:00 PM every first and third Fridays beginning in January 2011. The main room of the Center will be set up with cafĂ© tables and chairs facing the stage on which performers “will do their thing” says Director Della Moore.

This is a fundraiser for the Center to help with upkeep like utilities. Everyone is invited. There will be a donation jar for a free will offering. The call is out for anyone who would like to sing or read or play an instrument to sign up for one of the slots (four performers each night) in front of a friendly audience.
