This ceremony, to remember all children who have died, is held every year on the second Sunday in December, at 7 PM. As candles burn down in one time zone, they are lit in the next, creating a 24-hour wave of light that encircles the globe.
This local ceremony is being organized in memory of Noah Boser, who died at the age of 7 months and for all other children who have died. Parents, grandparents, families and friends who have lost a child are invited to bring a photograph (sealed in plastic) to be displayed at a memorial Christmas tree in the park. The candlelight vigil will have music, poems, hot chocolate and cookies to help warm our spirits as we remember all the children we’ll forever miss.

HomeCare & Hospice plans Tree of Life ceremonies

Sunday, December 4 2011
2 PM
Location: Total Senior Care
519 N. Union St.
Olean, NY
Phone: (800) 719-7129
While the deadline to order a commemoraive ornament in time to have it engraved before the ceremonies has passed, the ornament can still be purchased and engraved once the ceremony has taken place. This year’s ornament is a pewter memory tree.

At the ceremonies, family members and friends hang ornaments on a holiday tree in remembrance of their loved one. A member of a hospice patient’s family shares their story and assists in lighting a remembrance wreath.

Each year, the HomeCare & Hospice Foundation offers an ornament as an option for remembrance, but the ceremony is not limited to families who have received hospice services.

The ornament is available for a suggested donation of $15, with engraving, shipping and handling included. Additional options include giving an ornament as a gift, or purchasing a memory tag bearing a name for $5.

Participants are encouraged to take their ornament home after the ceremony. Otherwise, the ornaments will remain on the tree and be mailed out in mid-January.

Order forms can be obtained by contacting Jacqueline Czwojdak at (800) 719-7129 or Wendy Leffler at (877) 277-2615 or they may be downloaded at www.homcare-hospice.org.

An original murder-mystery-comedy-musical. The JCC Theater and Culture Club and Olean Toastmasters will be presenting a murder-mystery-comedy-musical this fall. Actors and other participants will be drawn from both JCC and the larger community. The play takes place at a high school reunion. The prom king and queen have been murdered. The problem is all the witnesses have been scared speechless; each person who holds a clue to the crime has recently been told that they have to make a speech at either work, church, or for a special occasion. The comedy explodes as the speechless witnesses attempt to act out their version of the crime. It will take an astute audience to figure this one out! Participants will create their characters based on this premise, with the help of director Anna Bush. For more information, contact Anna at 716-376-7508 or email annabush@mail.sunyjcc.edu
